Is your home server among the servers that will be closing down Monday morning? Will you be among the adventurers who are online until the bitter end?

If so, send us your screen shots of the final moments of your server, whether you're shouting in Whitegate or standing alone in your favorite place in Vana'diel. We'll be sorting through submissions and publishing screen shots after the worlds go down. If enough people submit screen shots, we can share with the ZAM community the final goodbyes of some of the game's oldest servers.

Screen shots can be emailed to ffxiteam@zam.com.

The date of March 22, 2010 will go down in FFXI lore as the day several beloved worlds were blinked out of existence. Let's get some screen shots and keep the memories of these worlds alive.

This week in Aion's weekly "Eye on the Community" newsletter, the Aion Community Team focused some of their attention on fan-made videos celebrating their St. Patrick's Day events that took place not too long ago. Interestingly, the team does acknowledge some of the controversy spawned by their St. Patrick's Day festivities, most notably being the fact that while the monsters spawned from the event dropped some very nice items, only the top legions of the game could down the baddies and receive the loot. In this way, most celebrating players who were under the level cap, and therefore too weak to face off against the event monsters, got some pretty hefty soul healing penalties for their efforts.

Either way, in regards to this somewhat controversial event, the Aion Community Team has noted that they have "learned lessons following your feedback and we'll keep in mind for future events."

In addition to chatting about their St. Patrick's Day Events, the team also highlighted a grassroots Asmodian PvP Tournament being hosted on Sunday on the Gorgos Server, as well as answering another community question. You can check it all out at the Aion website!

In a surprise reveal by the NCsoft Aion Community Team, their new video series "The More You MMO" has made its feature debut for the general population. In their first episode, the team focuses on the RMT (real money trade) aspects of Aion, such as purchasing Kinah or subscribing to powerleveling services. In particular, the video highlights the heavy risks that can come with RMT services, as giving up any of your account information (even something as simple as your in-game character name!) could potentially lead to your account getting hacked and then... banhamminated (their words, not ours!).

In the news post, North American Community Manager Andrew "Tamat" Beegle notes that "RMT doesn’t start and stop with a simple transaction. That’s just the beginning. After that first transaction, the same companies that offer Kinah, power-leveling, and preleveled characters continue to do anything and everything they can to use the information that you have given to them to steal, spam, bot, and ultimately destroy your gaming experience and the experience of others."

So take heed Daevas, and realize that sometimes the easiest path leads right off a cliff! You can check out the video at the Aion website!

When the developers at Runic Games announced the Torchlight franchise last year, the MMO industry anticipated that something special was about to happen. The startup company was founded by more than a dozen shining-star RPG developers and game designers, so it didn't come as a huge surprise that the single-player Torchlight received widespread acclaim after its release in late-2009.

Last week, the gaming industry recognized Torchlight's unrelenting influence yet again, when Runic Games won both the Game Industry News’ "RPG Game of the Year Award" and the Game Developer’s Conference "Choice Award for Best Debut" on March 12. But could this be just the beginning of what's to come? As we reported earlier, Runic Games' single-player RPG is only a precursor to the upcoming Torchlight Online, a full-blown MMO based on the same IP that swept the awards last week. Now, more than ever, we're keeping a watchful eye on Torchlight Online, which could become one of the most-anticipated MMOs of 2010.

A small hotfix was pushed live today. From the patcher:

*** Hotfix ***

- Karl Kranigan will now give rewards to folks that happened to get themselves killed while defeating his Behemoths if they ask him for a [reward].
- Fabled monsters should no longer spawn in the classic monster missions.

- The EverQuest Team

After a weak "soft launch" in December, Alganon is headed for a huge makeover, according to new Quest Online President Derek Smart. Quest went through a major shakeup that brought Smart in and saw founder David Allen leave.

GENERAL

  • Brawler Focus: Stances red adornments have been restored to their original values.

BATTLEGROUNDS

  • Fixed an issue that would cause some players to become stuck when returning home from a battlegrounds match.
  • It should no longer be possible to cause your character to become stuck by spam-clicking the cloud mounts in Smuggler’s Den.
