Final Fantasy XIView more from Final Fantasy XIIntroducing the Add-on Trilogy Bonus Gift!

To commemorate the arrival of the third add-on scenario, "A Shantotto Ascension", Square Enix is announcing that those loyal fans who have purchased all three add-on scenarios will be able to receive a new gift. The Nexus Cape, capable of teleporting a potentially straggling adventurer to their party leader's location, will be available from the treasure coffer in Lower Jeuno's Tenshodo Headquarters.

From Playonline.com:

To commemorate the release of the third and final add-on scenario, we are proud to introduce the "Nexus Cape," an in-game bonus item for players who have purchased the entire trilogy. All characters under a single player account registered for all three add-ons will be eligible for this gift.
Owners of the FINAL FANTASY XI ULTIMATE COLLECTION, scheduled for release on November 10, can also shout with glee, as the gift will be available to them also.

Following the release of the next version update, eligible characters may collect their Nexus Cape from the treasure coffer located within the Tenshodo Headquarters in Lower Jeuno.

The Nexus Cape is an enchanted item that allows characters in a party to teleport to their party leader's location. Please note, however, that the enchantment's effectiveness is limited to certain destinations only. Provided that all requisite conditions are fulfilled, characters may teleport to the areas listed below:

Uleguerand Range / Attohwa Chasm / West Ronfaure / East Ronfaure / La Theine Plateau / Valkurm Dunes / Jugner Forest / Batallia Downs / North Gustaberg / South Gustaberg / Konschtat Highlands / Pashhow Marshlands / Rolanberry Fields / Beaucedine Glacier / Xarcabard / Cape Teriggan / Eastern Altepa Desert / West Sarutabaruta / East Sarutabaruta / Tahrongi Canyon / Buburimu Peninsula / Meriphataud Mountains / Sauromugue Champaign / Yuhtunga Jungle / Yhoator Jungle / Western Altepa Desert / Qufim Island / Behemoth's Dominion / Valley of Sorrows / Southern San d'Oria / Northern San d'Oria / Port San d'Oria / Bastok Mines / Bastok Markets / Port Bastok / Windurst Waters / Windurst Walls / Port Windurst / Windurst Woods / Ru'Lude Gardens / Upper Jeuno / Lower Jeuno / Port Jeuno / Rabao / Selbina / Mhaura / Kazham / Norg

The enchantment effect will differ slightly depending upon the party leader's current location: field areas or towns. For field areas, users will be sent directly to where their party leader stands, while for towns, they will be teleported to where a home point may be set.
Bring a Nexus Cape with you on your adventures, and you need not fear being left behind by your comrades ever again!

*The teleportation will be rendered ineffective if the party leader changes areas in the middle of casting. It is recommended that party members communicate their intent to teleport beforehand.
*Characters may teleport only to areas they have previously visited.
*Teleporting to areas introduced in expansions is possible only after installation and code registration have been completed for the expansion pack in question. This does not, however, affect one's eligibility to obtain the Nexus Cape.

I would seriously ask folks to get it.

Everytime you go do some quest, challenge, some bugger always gets to camp SAM/BLM, RNG/BLM, WAR/PUP or some crap. Warp back and port back out to the same location with out all the running and with a lower wait time.

After 5/6 years (lost count now)people still do silly things like that.

Doing ENMS, oh damn out blm or tank dc'd. ok let me warp change and I will be back faster than running up the hill again.

Sorry just some times when the cape would be very handy.

40 hour recast and limited to particular areas...

kinda lacking any real umph. Its going to be situational at best. I wont be getting mini expansions for an item that will make me inventory -1 that ill only use once to two times a week depending on the area im traveling to and the recast.

When I read the into for this item, I though bah, well done SE, very clever of you... Now i'm going to have to purchase this 3rd mini-expansion.

But then I read the rest - the 40hour cool-down, and no ToAU or WotG areas and my want for it suddenly went completely.

An excerpt from an eventual linkshell chat:

<player1> hey guys. just logged in. what's up?
<player2> oh hey. Behemoth's popping soon. You in?
<player1> oh sweet! let me grab my Nexus Cape and I'm omw.

Or worse:

<player1> Hey, you comin to dynamis?
<player2> Nah, it'd take me too long to get there. Go ahead.
<player1> Where's your cape, noob?
<player2> ...
(player1 didn't wanna go but now he has no excuse lol)

So yeah, I can see the uses of it. And at the very least, it makes it easier to get out to VoS to do Fields of Valor, right?

Yeah, I don't think many people are putting two and two together on this. Yes, it works like that, but you HAVE to be in the party or close enough to get invited. And like the above poster just said, if you aren't close enough for an invite, then it doesn't help.

It can still save some time though but not like you are thinking Reveka.

For example:

<10ZonesAwayPlayer>: "Just logged on, whats going down?"
<HNMLS>: "Behemoth's popping soon, hurry up!!"
<10ZonesAwayPlayer>: "Sure, I will grab my Nexus cape and head that way"
<HNMLS>: "np, when you get close to zone I will invite ya"

*depending on where 10ZonesAwayPlayer logged out at, he/she might have to warp to Home Nation or White Gate(if they have a warp scroll or warp cudgel), then tele/warp to Jueno and then zone to Qufim island before close enough for invite and use Nexus cape.

Now if the whole HNMLS isn't there yet and some party members are still scattered and on their way, then yeah, party leader can just pass to make a new party leader closer to you, invite, and pass leader back but that is still situational on where the party members are. I could easily just OP warp and be there almost as fast and save the 40 hour cooldown charge.

Except you have to be in the same area to be invited to the party. You do not log in already in the party to make this possible. Maybe if someone who was in the party came to you, invited you, passed lead and you both went...
Edit: fixed bad wording on my part

Look at the area list. It will only access areas accessible by a player who has installed up to CoP and have done no missions. No Sky, no Sea, no ToAU, no WotG... this would have been great to release in 2004-2005. With a level 30 cap on it I do not see widespread use of this. Sure, it will be used but it's not as great as it seems.
Not trying to be negative about this, just pointing out the facts.
In all honesty...

a very, and I mean very situational item. I hardly ever find myself in those zones anymore, especially in party situations. Looks like it will help HNM linkshells a lot and some other events. A decent item at best.

I wasn't gonna buy the third story pack yet, but now I guess I will, I can't pass this up. Sure, the recast is 40 hours, but think of the time-saving convenience!
